The China-Tanzania “Chinese + Vocational Skills” project organized by Henan Lianfei Business Information Consulting Co., Ltd. is implemented at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM) and VETA Kipawa ICT Centre. The short-term project will help young people master the practical skills necessary for Tanzania’s industrial transformation and sustainable development and empower them to acquire practical competencies that are crucial to the nation’s sustainable growth.
A delegation of experienced instructors comes from Zhengzhou Railway Vocational & Technical College, Zhengzhou Vocational College of Information Technology, Henan College of Surveying and Mapping. Bringing specialized knowledge in Civil Engineering, Mechatronics, Artificial Intelligence Technology Application, Survey and Mapping Engineering Technology (Remote Sensing Science and Technology), the team will collaborate closely with UDSM and VETA Kipawa.
Upon arrival, the Chinese educators began working with the department heads of UDSM and VETA Kipawa to design curricula that blend China’s vocational education standards with Tanzania’s specific vocational training needs. In addition to the vocational skills training, online Chinese courses have also been launched, attracting active participation from the trainees and achieving excellent results. This approach aims to equip Tanzanian youth with skills aligned to both local industry demands and the expanding presence of Chinese enterprises in the country.
This collaborative model not only alleviates critical skills shortages but also fosters knowledge exchange and cultural connectivity between the two countries. It stands as a practical example of the Belt and Road Initiative’s contribution to vocational education and human capital development across Africa.
UDSM and VETA Kipawa extended sincere gratitude to the participating Chinese institutions and instructors for their dedication and support. The project reinforces Tanzania’s vision to empower its youth with competitive, industry-relevant skills while strengthening bilateral cooperation for sustainable national progress.
